After adopting the puppy into her holiday house in Macastre, near Valencia, Anne Shields, a British woman residing in Spain, called him Choccy.
Her daughter told The Sun that she tried to place Choccy in a nearby shelter but was told that there was no room.
‘She was an animal lover who couldn’t stomach the prospect of re-introducing Choccy to the streets,’ Sarah, 43, explained.
Ms Shields, 67, decided to care for the dog until he could be adopted, but Choccy turned on her and began assaulting her.
