The Senate Chief Whip, Senator Ali Ndume, has drawn comparisons between the administrations of former President Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu, noting that Buhari’s was more friendly.

Ndume also criticised the current Tinubu administration, highlighting problems with accessibility, and emphasised how much he believed accessibility had improved under Buhari’s presidency.

According to him, “I thought Buhari’s administration was not good, but if you compare this current government to Buhari’s regime, you would give Buhari a thumbs up.

Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq., the legal counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has revealed that he had survived five attempts at assassination during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ejiofor detailed the terrifying events he went through between 2015 and 2021 in a statement titled “Crucial Clarifications Regarding The Case/Trial Of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,” which was made public on Monday. He claimed that people acting under specific orders made five separate attempts to take his life.

Ejiofor made it clear that his involvement in supporting IPOB, also known as Ezigbo Umuchineke, and protecting Nnamdi Kanu was the real reason behind these assassination attempts, rather than any illegal behaviour on his part.

“I joined Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team in December, 2015 and eventually took on the role of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s lead Counsel and also as the IPOB General/Lead Counsel in January, 2016,” he said adding, “Since 2015, I have diligently performed my professional duties in defending Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB while upholding ethical standards.”

“Despite achieving significant and unprecedented victories/milestone in securing the release of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other comrades in 2017 and 2018 respectively, I have also worked tirelessly to secure the release of numerous IPOB members from detention facilities – both at the federal and state levels – possibly numbering in their thousands.”

Ejiofor said that his efforts had consequences, pointing out that there were attempts by both governmental and non-governmental organisations to take his life through a variety of unfair means. One such incident was Nigerian security personnel invading his ancestral home in Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Anambra State.

He disclosed that the funding for this “murderous operation” came from a member of his own community, whom he characterised as a malicious entity.

Ejiofor said, “During this operation, many civilians were murdered in their prime and over 30 houses were burnt, all in a bid to eliminate me at all costs and by any means for being Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Attorney and IPOB Lead counsel.

“Since their evil mission was not completely accomplished on the 2nd of December 2019, another bloody invasion of my ancestral home was carried out in June 2021, this time with specifics, confirming my availability at the time of invasion.

“Acting on this strong lead, my house was invaded at the wee hours of the morning of 6th of June 2021, and my personal assistant in the person of Mr. Samuel Okoro was gruesomely murdered, his dead body dumped in the boot of my car and subsequently set ablaze at Neni, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

“Three of my wards, to wit; Ugochukwu Lawrence, Felix Okafor and Ikenna Chibuike abducted during this bloody invasion are still in detention till date, even as I struggle day in and day out to secure their release. Between the year 2015 and 2021, I have escaped five consecutive brutal assassination attempts ostensibly carried out by those who were on specific instruction to kill me by any means and at all cost, and not because I am a criminal but because I was defending Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and Ezigbo Umuchineke.”

Ejiofor went on to say that the people who were trying to assassinate him had not given up.

He claimed that their methods and names had been made public, exposing them as ordinary people who had turned to cult funding in order to carry out their assassination plots.

Senator Shehu Sani, a former central lawmaker from Kaduna, has expressed grave concerns regarding an alleged case of widespread corruption under former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Sani asserted in a tweet on Monday that an incredible $3.4 billion IMF loan—obtained during Buhari’s administration—had mysteriously disappeared.

According to Sani, “The Auditor General report simply revealed that the $3.4 Billion IMF loan that was obtained under the Buhari regime also ‘disappeared’ under the same regime,as ‘there was no record of its whereabouts’.

Public responses to the tweet included one person, Chimezie, who said, “A whooping $3.4 billion,” expressing amazement at the huge sum involved. The former general accountant is still roaming freely, though.

“The finance minister still walking freely. The former is still receiving accolades, book launch to his name and walking freely. Several other loans will not only disappear but also evaporate like gas.”.

Similarly, the Citizen for Ethical Governance weighed in on the matter, tweeting, “Buhari’s bad impact in Nigeria will be still felt in decades to come. He literally ground Nigeria’s economy.

“When God wants to punish a nation, he will give them Muhammadu Buhari,” they concluded.

According to the Minister of Works, David Umahi, President Bola Tinubu’s administration inherited N14 trillion worth of road projects from the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Umahi, there are 2,604 road projects totaling 18,000 kilometres in length that were left over from the previous administration.

In an interview with media at the presidential palace, Umahi stated that the current administration has paid contractors N4 trillion out of the N14 trillion total.

He said, “Between when we came on board and now, about N4 trillion has been paid. And so that is a balance of N10 trillion remaining.

“Now, in this N10 trillion, we have identified sources that could fund up to N4 trillion. So, we have a funding gap of about N6 trillion.

“We have a number of programs for road development under the previous administration. We inherited all the projects; we have not dropped any of them. But curious to know that some of these projects have lasted for 20 years, some 10 years.

“In fact, in most cases, they were never appropriated throughout every tenure.

“So I went to seek Mr. President’s nod so that I will be able to terminate some of the projects that have stayed up to 10 years without any defined source of funding.”

The minister said Tinubu should encourage the national assembly to prioritise road projects.

Umahi added, “Just look at over 2,600 projects, 18,000 kilometres of roads, and N14 trillion. That is huge and the worrisome part of this is that even the ones that are being funded properly, the roads hardly last up to five years.

“I shared with Mr. President that the way appropriation is being done is not healthy to develop our roads infrastructure. For example, for a road that may cost N10 billion, an appropriation of N150 million is made.

“It is just for the contractor to take and put in his pockets because where the average cost of projects that we inherited is about N700 million per kilometre and you are giving out N150 million for the whole year, then you are just enhancing the pockets of the contractor.”

The First Lady when asked about the area she thought the Buhari administration has failed, said she didn’t follow the government programmes.

She added, “I don’t know, because I run my office like a charity; I only accept people, but I don’t belong to politics. All I do is support them in terms of health or education. I don’t follow what they do.”

Tinubu praised the current administration, led by Buhari, saying it was able to save 36 states of the federation from the previous administration, which was unable to pay the salaries of federal personnel.

The All Progressives Congress’ (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu and his running partner Kashim Shettima have come under fire from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for allegedly distancing themselves from President Muhammadu Buhari.

The PDP asserted that Tinubu and Shettima dissociated themselves from Buhari’s administration’s failure.

The PDP’s national publicity secretary, Debo Ologunagba, made the claim while criticizing Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate, and Kashim Shettima, Tinubu’s running mate, for visiting former president Goodluck Jonathan.

“Nigerians can equally recall how Shettima as governor of Borno State, sabotaged and frustrated Jonathan’s administration in its effort to curb insecurity in Borno State.”

On Thursday, 1st July 2021, Abdullahi Sule, the Governor of Nasarawa State, has said that the gale of defections recorded recently is owing to the fact that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is getting weaker under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.

Sule, who appeared on Politics Today, a Channels TV show monitored by Anaedoonline.ng, was reacting to the defection of some PDP lawmakers and Governors to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

This, he attributed to the weak state of the opposition party, saying that the situation is getting worse. According to Governor Sule, the APC’s depletion of PDP by poaching its governors and lawmakers is a part of politicking.

“We have been a very strong party and we are doing the best we can to continue to be stronger and the only way we can be stronger is to get more and more people and the right people to get are the leaders of the opposition. Governor Sule further said “PDP has always been weak since President Muhammadu Buhari came in,” adding that all that is being seen at the moment is that the party is becoming “weaker and weaker”.

He boasted that the APC is doing a very good job by ensuring that it opens its doors and give Nigerians what they are looking for when it comes to governance. Sule’s comments come on the heels of the latest defection of Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State.

Matawalle, late Tuesday, announced his defection at the Gusau Trade Fair Complex at an event attended by APC governors, ministers, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.

Meanwhile, the state’s deputy governor, Mahdi Aliyu, and the member representing Talata Mafara/Anka in the State House of Assembly, Kabiru Yahaya, have decided to remain in the opposition PDP. Some federal lawmakers from the state who are also members of the PDP had earlier announced their defection to the APC but it is not yet clear whether all the lawmakers joined the governor to the APC.
