A commander of the Biafra Nations League, a pro-Biafra organisation, has apparently been assassinated.
The head of the ‘freedom fighters’ was purportedly slain on the Bakassi Peninsula by operatives of the Rapid Intervention Battalion, a Cameroonian military outfit.
The assassination of the dead was verified in a statement attributed to Ita Bassey, the chairman of the Bakassi branch of BNL.

According to reports, the BNL commander was slain during an operation last week, according to Anaedoonline.ng.
According to reports, the deceased headed an armed squad that assaulted a boat in an attempt to kidnap three tourists and one security worker on board.
According to Bassey, the commander’s body has been handed over to the Nigerian military.
“He was captured in his house, we are not aware if he was part of the attack on the boat on Wednesday, but what we know is that he has been killed and his remains handed to Nigerian Military,” he stated.
The statement explained further that the Cameroonian Security Forces shot the suspect when he attempted to flee during a tip-off operation at his residence in Idabato on Friday morning.
