President Bola Tinubu has given assurance that the National Population Commission (NPC) will conduct a nationwide census soon. He made this announcement at the launch of the National Geospatial Data Repository, Digital Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) System, and the inauguration of the National Coordination Committee for CRVS at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Tinubu stressed the importance of data in national growth and called for collaboration among government ministries, departments, and agencies. He emphasized the need to utilize cutting-edge technology in data gathering for Nigeria’s population and urged the country to stay updated with efficient data sourcing.
The President also expressed gratitude that Nigeria is not prone to natural disasters. It’s worth noting that the past administration had allocated N200 billion for the Population Commission to conduct a national census, which was postponed due to other pressing issues.
