Tragedy Strikes as Illegal Oil Refining Site Explosion Claims Dozens of Lives in Rivers State

Tragedy struck as approximately 35 people are feared dead following a devastating explosion at an illegal oil refining site in Ibas Community, Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Reports indicate that the tragedy unfolded late on a Sunday night when a group of over 40 individuals from the community were engaged in scooping petroleum products at the site. The victims had been involved in selling the illicitly refined product when disaster struck, engulfing the area in flames.

According to a local source named Emmanuel, the fire originated from a nearby refining site, spreading rapidly and catching those present off guard. Tragically, a significant number of individuals from neighboring communities, including Isiokpo in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Ibaa, and Oduoha in Emohua LGA, were also affected by the explosion.

Emmanuel revealed, “More than 40 people were there at the site. They were there scooping and bagging crude oil when the place caught fire. The fire came from a refining site that was close to the point where they were bagging the crude. Many Isiokpo, Oduoha, and Ibaa people were there. Seven of the people died inside the pit where they were scooping the crude. About 10 burnt to charcoal by the pit.”

Tragically, the catastrophe claimed approximately 30 lives at the scene, with more than 15 individuals rushed to the hospital for emergency medical care. Regrettably, it has been reported that three of these victims lost their lives while being transported to the hospital.

As the community grapples with this devastating incident, questions regarding the safety of such illegal refining activities loom large. Efforts to ascertain the full extent of the tragedy and the circumstances leading up to it are ongoing, with local authorities and law enforcement agencies investigating the incident.

Missing 11-Year-Old Delta Boy Discovered Dead Inside Drum

Master Joshua Sunday, an 11-year-old kid who had been missing, was discovered dead inside a drum in Asaba, the capital of Delta State.

After three days at Usonia Street, behind Stephen Kashi Stadium in Asaba, the deceased was discovered dead on Sunday inside a water-filled drum in the complex, according to information obtained by ANAEDOONLINE.NG.
The deceased’s mother, Christy Garuba, described the incident on Wednesday, alleging that her son was killed and brought back to the complex.

She said, “I travel to the West part of the country, on my way coming back to Asaba on Thursday, February 2, I called my son Joshua informing him that I was coming back home; that was around 3pm; he was still in school for primary six lessons because he is preparing for common entrance (primary six exams)
“Because of fuel scarcity, we couldn’t get fuel on time which delay my movement to Asaba.

“I got to Asaba around 7 pm, entered the house, and immediately I saw my son’s slippers scattered on the ground but didn’t see the boy.

11-Year-Old Boy Dies During Beer Drinking Contest

“I asked my house help the whereabouts of Joshua and she said she suspected he went to charge his phone. I went to the place he normally goes to charge the phone, but he was not there.
“I started searching for my son everywhere but I didn’t see him. It was in the evening I went to report the case at the A’ Division police station.

“After three days, I was told to go and check somewhere for my son, immediately I went out they called me back that they have seen my son. I went back to my compound and saw my son dead inside the drum in my corridor

“Imagine the drum I collected water from to wash my face on Friday morning, was where they said they found my son. They killed him and sneaked him back inside the drum.”

The deceased’s mother called on the security agency in the state to expedite action against the killer in order to give him justice

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, adding that some suspects have been arrested.

He said, “The police are waiting for the autopsy to ascertain the cause of the boy’s death.

“Some suspects have been arrested but now I cannot tell you the numbers of the suspects arrested.”

A young lady twerking on stage has reportedly died after she was sexually assaulted at a carnival.
The young Ghanian lady identified Ama Broni reportedly attended a carnival at Budumburam in the Gomoa East District where she met her untimely death. The carnival dubbed ‘Family Street Carnival’ took place on Saturday, 16th January 2021 at Budumburam in the Central Region.

At the carnival, a challenge was thrown to the crowd that whoever was able to twerk heavily would be given $100. Hoping to make some money, Ama took up the challenge and hit the stage to dance.

In videos shared online, the mother of two was seen dancing on stage butt naked as some guys tried touching her private part. This prompted her to bring her performance to a halt and she made way to backstage after collecting the prize money.

Some eyewitnesses claim that while making her way down the stage to avoid further harassments, the mother of two was electrocuted but did not help from those around her because they thought she was still being hyper. However, other eyewitnesses alleged that Ama died after she jumped and broke her neck while trying to escape from men that were assaulting her sexually during her dance performance.

Angelita Seixas Alves Correia had moved from Brazil to the city of Matosinhos in Portugal in 2016 where she built up a successful career as a personal trainer and dance instructor.

The woman was found dead after posting a mysterious message claiming she was being threatened.

Angelita Seixas Alves Correia, 31, had moved from Brazil to the city of Matosinhos in Portugal in 2016 where she built up a successful career as a personal trainer and dance instructor.

Ms Alves Correia’s husband – who she married two years later – was the last person to see her when she told him that she was going to a friend’s house.

Before vanishing, the personal trainer sent an Instagram live message to her sister Suzana Alves Alcantara, 42, on January 1 saying that she was being threatened but was not afraid.

Her message was cut off and was not seen or heard from again until a surfer spotted Angelita’s body washed up on a beach.

Some of her belongings, including a shoe were also found nearby.

Police said that her body had been in the water for around ten days and was already starting to decompose.

Her sister said: “We were in daily contact with the police in Portugal and we were hoping they would find her alive.”

The family said they have not been given any more information and Suzana is hoping to fly to Portugal to get more details about the case.

The family also wants to bring her body back to be buried in her home city of Goiania in Brazil, if her husband agrees.

Police confirmed that they found the body and that an autopsy had been carried out, but no further details were given.

Mr. Latin disclosed that Folake Aremu gave her last breath on Tuesday night.

Another senior TAMPAN member Tunde Ola-Yusuff also stated that “She left without a goodbye.”

Orisabunmi died at age 60, four months after ex-husband Jimoh Aliu, better known as Aworo.

Orisabunmi was well known from the 80s for her roles as a priestess in movies.

Orisabunmi was married to another actor Jimoh Aliu, popularly known as Aworo.

The two separated long before Aworo died on September 17, 2020.

Two Persons Shot Dead As Rival Cult Groups Clash At Federal Polytechnic Nekede

A renewed cult clash between two rival groups has claimed two lives at the Federal Polytechnic Nekede in Umudibia Autonomous Community, Owerri West Council Area of Imo State.

It was gathered that gunmen suspected to be cult members shot dead an unidentified man at Federal Polytechnic Nekede junction on Wednesday, November 11.

The deceased was said to have been ambushed by the armed men at the junction around 9am.

It was further gathered that another unidentified person was gunned down at the School Back Gate on Tuesday night, Novemeber 10, at 8 pm.

According to local vigilante personnel, the killings were a result of a clash between two cult groups who were on a revenge mission.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Orlando Ikeokwu, who confirmed the incident on Wednesday November 11, said that the Commissioner of Police, Issac Akinmoyede has ordered an investigation into the two killings.

“We have collected the two corpses and deposited them in the mortuary while investigation has commenced. We believe it is a clash between two rival cult groups,” he said.
