Adeyanju Warns Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso From Contesting 2027 Presidency

On Wednesday, activist attorney Deji Adeyanju warned past presidential candidates Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against squandering their funds to run in 2027.

Adeyanju stated that Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso would be better off using their funds to wager on “two odds on BetNaija” rather than running for office and spending money on the 2027 presidential election.

Adeyanju stated in a post on X that even if the three past presidential candidates banded together, they would not be able to unseat President Bola Tinubu.

Adeyanju said, “It is better for Atiku, Obi & Kwankwaso to use their money to play two odds on BetNaija than to contest against Tinubu & INEC.

“I will waste my vote is no longer finding it funny. And Tinubu is just starting. The best time the opposition had to defeat APC was the last election if they united. Even if they all come together now, Tinubu & INEC will not lose an election Tinubu will conduct.”

Human Rights Lawyer Deji Adeyanju Urges Withdrawal of Soldiers Ahead of Hunger Protest

Activist and human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju has called on the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, to withdraw the deployment of soldiers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and other cities in anticipation of the upcoming hunger protest. Reports has it that there is a noticeable increase in security agents, including military personnel, in the FCT ahead of the nationwide protests scheduled from August 1 to 10.

Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, refuted claims that the deployment was intended to intimidate protesters, stating, “Troops have always been deployed across the country in counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations. There is nothing new about that (deployment), please.”

However, in a letter addressed to the Chief of Army Staff on Tuesday, Adeyanju emphasized that the responsibility of maintaining security during protests lies with the police, not the military. He pointed out that previous deployments of soldiers during protests in Kenya and the 2020 #EndSARS movement resulted in riots.

“We write as a pro-human rights law firm to draw your attention to the disturbing deployment of men of the Nigerian Army across the Federal Capital Territory and other cities to suppress the scheduled August 1, 2024, national protest,” Adeyanju stated. “The task of providing internal security, including the protection of protesters during the scheduled protest, lies with the Nigerian Police Force and not the Nigerian Army.

“You may also recall that at all times when the armed forces intervened in any protest, including the recent ongoing Kenya protest, such protests often escalated into full-blown riots leading to loss of lives and property. It is on the premise of the foregoing that we urge you to withdraw your men back to the barracks as we do not want a repeat of soldiers killing protesters as was witnessed during EndSARS,” he concluded.

Verydarkman remanded in police custody for cyberbullying

Controversial social media critic Martin Otse, known online as VeryDarkMan, has been remanded in police custody until his next court hearing, scheduled for next Wednesday. Otse was arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja, facing five counts of cyberstalking involving the Nigeria Police and Nollywood actresses Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Otse’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, applied for bail, but the police prosecuting team requested more time to respond. As a result, Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon adjourned the bail hearing to May 29. While the prosecution initially sought to have Otse remanded in prison custody, his lawyers successfully argued for his remand in police custody instead. Consequently, he was taken to the National Cybercrime Centre.

The charges against Otse include:

1. **Cyberstalking Iyabo Ojo**: On October 29, 2023, Otse allegedly posted a video on his Instagram handle “verydarkblackman,” falsely accusing Iyabo Ojo of having an indecent sexual relationship with her daughter. This charge violates Section 24 (1)(a) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act, 2015.

2. **Cyberstalking Tonto Dikeh**: On January 19, 2024, Otse allegedly posted another video on Instagram accusing Tonto Dikeh of criminal conversion of crowdfunding proceeds and being behind the Gistlover blog, intending to cause annoyance and harm. This violates Section 24 (1)(b) of the Cybercrime Act.

3. **Defaming Senior Police Officers and Lawmakers**: On March 19, 2024, Otse allegedly posted a video claiming that senior police officers and lawmakers were involved in sexual activities with Bobrisky, aiming to cause annoyance and other harm. This also violates Section 24 (1)(b) of the Cybercrime Act.

4. **Further Defamation**: On the same day, Otse allegedly posted another video claiming Bobrisky was pimping young boys to senators and senior police officers, again intending to cause harm and inconvenience.

Last week, Peter Obi held a closed-door meeting with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other PDP stalwarts in Abuja. Obi also met separately with former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido and former Senate President Bukola Saraki, sparking speculation about a potential coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections. Obi had defected from the PDP to the Labour Party in 2022 to pursue his presidential ambitions.

Otse’s next hearing is awaited with much anticipation, as his case continues to stir debate and draw attention to the issues of cybercrime and social media conduct in Nigeria.

“If urgent measures are not taken to cushion the effects of this hardship, we fear that mass protests may erupt across the country, potentially leading to a serious revolution.

“We must acknowledge that there is a limit to what the people can endure. If President Tinubu genuinely cares about the well-being of the citizens and seeks to alleviate their suffering, it is important that he reinstates the suspended programmes that can provide much-needed support to ordinary citizens and the vulnerable.”

Oladimeji Fabiyi, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has criticised political activist Prince Deji Adeyanju for attributing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s win in the 2023 presidential election to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Adeyanju criticised Atiku Abubakar for the results of the Nigerian presidential election in 2023.

He said that the PDP nominee, Atiku, lost the 2023 election due to a number of lesser-known reasons, including conceit, poor interpersonal skills, an incapacity to control the opposition, and inadequate human relationships.

Atiku Lost The Election Because of His Arrogance – Adeyanju

Adeyanju voiced his opinion in his New Year’s greeting, claiming that Nigeria would have a different President if Atiku had handled the 2023 elections more skillfully.

The activist chastised Atiku for not cooperating with the likes of Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and the G5, who ultimately cleared the path for Tinubu’s triumph.

However, in a statement released on Thursday, Fabiyi refuted Adeyanju’s assertion that Atiku was crucial to Tinubu’s win.

He said that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Adeyanju should take the blame instead.

The PDP leader claims that INEC ought to take responsibility for its inability to follow the rules it set for itself in order to have a legitimate, impartial, and free election in Nigeria.

Tribunal May Not Invalidate Peter Obi, VP Shettima For Double Nomination – Adeyanju

His statement read: “I am constrained to disagree with you on your submission about the outcome of the 2023 presidential election and your uncharitable conclusion about the role played by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP in the election.

“It was most unkind of you to presume that Atiku could have willfully stopped the ambition of Peter Obi alongside the decision of the Wike led G-5 to commit class suicide.

“The political reality of the 2023 election meant that these men were bent on pursuing their ambitions, which is permissible by the law. If you knew Atiku’s political antecedents, you would know that Atiku is a multi-party democrat and would be the last person to stop the ambition of an opponent for any reason whatsoever.

“Should any blame be passed on the 2023 Presidential Election, such blame should go to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its failure to comply with its self-imposed regulations to conduct a credible, free and fair election in Nigeria.

“Quite a number of civil society organizations and personalities, including even you, Deji Adeyanju, canvassed for the electronic transmission of results. Curiously INEC did not keep to its words, and you here, Deji and others kept mute about the anomaly and chose to blame the opposition political figures for inadequacies that defined the 2023 presidential election.

“INEC made a humongous budget for the procurement of technologies and the infrastructure to ensure the transparency of the election, but the commission failed woefully on its own mandate.

“Civil society bodies, which ordinarily ought to be the bastion of democratic good governance, unconscionably played deaf and dumb to the development and turned their backs on the decision of the Court of Appeal when it pronounced that electronic voting was not a compulsory mandate on the conduct and collation of election results.

“Rather, unfortunately also no one heard your voice, Deji, when the Chicago State University released its discoveries that the truth that Bola A. Tinubu forged his academic credentials. Atiku’s lawyers fought vigorously to make discoveries of gross misconduct about the man who had just been elected President of Nigeria, but sadly, neither you Deji, nor any other civil society organization, caused a protest in demand for investigation into Tinubu’s fraudulent claims on his education and his possible impeachment.

On the results of Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election, human rights activist Deji Adeyanju has criticised Atiku Abubakar, the country’s former vice president.

He said that Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, lost the votes in 2023 due to a number of lesser-known reasons, including his conceit, poor interpersonal skills, and incapacity to control the opposition.

In light of this, Adeyanju stated that Atiku has to accept that he has accomplished enough and give up on any thoughts of running for president in 2027 in favour of mentoring up-and-coming politicians.

The message reads: “For over three decades, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s name has appeared prominently in the Nigerian political lexicon and one cannot deny the fact that he has contributed a great deal in shaping the Nigerian democracy.

“From the aborted third republic down to the recently conducted 2023 general elections, Alhaji Atiku has played one role or the other in Nigerian politics, with varying results. However, it is now time for him to take a bow from politics and serve as a mentor for the younger generation of politicians.

Adeyanju Reveals Where Tinubu Should Be Instead of Running For Presidency

“Keen observers of political issues in Nigeria will attest to the fact that year 2023 was Alhaji Abubakar’s best shot at the Nigerian Presidency. He had everything working in his favour. However, a combination of arrogance, inadequate human relationship, inability to manage the opposition, and several other lesser known factors contributed to his defeat in the polls.

“Abubakar was directly responsible for the division in the opposition that saw President Tinubu emerging with the slimmest victory margin in Nigeria’s recent democratic elections. He failed to support Peter or prevail on him to remain in the PDP, he failed to prevail on Kwankwaso to remain in the PDP, he picked unnecessary fight with the G5 PDP governors and invariably lost in woefully in areas that were hitherto traditional PDP bases.

“Had the G5, kwankwaso, Peter Obi and Atiku worked under one platform in the 2023 presidential election, we would have had a different president today. Sadly, that ship has sailed. It is for the aforementioned reasons that Abubakar must drop his intention to run in the 2027 presidential elections. He is not the only politician in Nigeria. He must give way for younger generation of politicians.”

Political activist Deji Adeyanju warned on Monday that the Peter Obi nomination for president of the Labour Party, LP, might not be invalidated by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

Adeyanju had previously stated that the tribunal might not treat Vice President Kashim Shettima same due to a double nomination.

He said in a tweet that the tribunal might render President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second nomination ineligible.

Appeal Court: Kalu, Ohuabunwa Disagree With Judgement

According to Adeyanju: “Will be extremely surprised if the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal does not invalidate the nomination of Peter Obi by LP in line with the provisions of the EA on membership register.

“The Double nomination of Shettima is also enough to invalidate Tinubu’s candidacy.”

A lawsuit seeking to disqualify Tinubu and Shettima for an alleged double nomination was dismissed by the Supreme Court in May.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Shettima both received double nominations for the positions of vice president and senator from Borno Central Senatorial District, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) argued in its petition to the top court.

Deji Adeyanju, a public affairs analyst, made fun of Nasir El-Rufai after it was announced that he had withdrawn his name from consideration for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ministerial nomination.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the Senate deferred El-Rufai’s and two other nominees’ confirmations after receiving security concerns from the Department of State Services.

El-Rufai allegedly told President Tinubu of his decision to resign from his ministerial position as a result, along with a suggestion for a replacement.

Adeyanju responded by stating that it would make sense for El-Rufai to run for office in 2027 by joining Peter Obi’s Labour Party.

He suggested that the former FCT Minister run alongside Obi, claiming that their combined ticket would be like a match made in heaven.

According to him, he would meet fellow religious bigots the moment he defects to the Labour Party.

“But it will make a lot of sense if elRufai joins Labour Party. He will meet his fellow religious bigot there, and they can both run as presidential and VP candidates in 2027. They will fight their religious war together.

“Peter/El-Rufai 2027 ticket will be a strong one. A union made in Heaven. They both have bigotry and betrayal running in their DNA,” he tweeted on Friday.

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, has been encouraged to leave politics, according to social activist Deji Adeyanju.

Tweeting, Adeyanju wrote: “Atiku is convinced he won the election but doesn’t know how to prove it. Just stressing himself for nothing. He should retire from politics and support a younger person in 2027. Politics must not always be about self.”

Deji Adeyanju Attacks Atiku Over His 2023 Presidential Ambition

Earlier, the appeal filed by Atiku challenging the election victory of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had been heard by the Presidential Election appeal Tribunal in Abuja, which had reserved judgment.

The five-person panel, presided over by Justice Haruna Tsammani, withheld its decision until a time that would be made known to the parties.
