ELITE CORPS WARN: “NO RIGGING OF ELECTIONS, NO ELECTION VIOLENCE
Ahead of the 2019 election, Elites Community Initiative (Corps) of Nigeria (ECI) have embarked on a sensitization campaign to educate communities on their voting rights and the need to avoid election malpractices and violence.
The ECIs who were in the streets of Nnewi, on Friday, 8th February, 2019, toured the four quarters of Nnewi, telling people to vote, but to avoid election crime.
The Commandant General of Elite Corps, Bernard Opara, encouraged members of the community to come out in their numbers to vote, saying “it is your right to vote’’.
He enumerated the implications of not voting or collecting inducement in order to vote. He said, “election cannot be rigged, the Elites Corps is here to ensure that our votes are counted and announced at the polling units. There is no rigging of election without the voters or members of the community, so, let’s wage war against rigging.”
The ECI commandant further said people should avoid collecting money for voting. “When you are gratified, a wrong leader will be elected. We are encouraging youths to shun electoral crimes and malpractices. There are penalties for election violence. We are encouraging members of the communities to support elite campaign for a free and fair election’’.

The Elite Corps is an accredited INEC Observer and Voter’s Educator for the 2019 election. The group which are on a nationwide campaign to inform and educate the communities on free and fair election have visited Anambra and will cover other states in the south-south before the February 16 election.
