Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate for the 2023 election, praised two Nigerian women for attending King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s coronation.
According to news sources, Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, officially crowned King Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla, on Saturday at Westminster Abbey in London.
World leaders, their representatives, and well-known figures from over the globe attended the coronation, which was broadcast live on BBC television and reputedly viewed by 14 million people worldwide.
King Charles III Takes Coronation Oath
Obi praised an Emeritus Professor and British Nurse, Dame Elizabeth Anionwu, who carried the orb for the King, and Eva Omaghomi, the Director of Community Engagement to King Charles III and Queen Camilla., in a series of tweets sent via his verified Twitter account on Sunday.
According to Obi, these individuals’ honor and renown in the diaspora were won more by their abilities, moral character, and integrity than by their racial or religious affinities.
The New Nigeria, he claimed, will celebrate people based on their skill and capacities, and the traits stated are its defining characteristics.
He wrote: “I am delighted with the participation of 2 distinguished Nigerian women at the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla yesterday. Dame Elizabeth Anionwu, an Emeritus Professor and British Nurse carried the orb, while Eva Omaghomi graced the event as the Director of Community Engagement to King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

“Their competence, character and integrity, rather than ethnic and religious affiliations earned them such recognition and honour in the diaspora. These qualities, as I have always preached, are the hallmark of the New Nigeria, where people will be celebrated based on their competence and capabilities. I wish them well as they continue to contribute to the positive image of our dear nation, Nigeria.”
