Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo, has joined his forefathers.
On Friday, Adeyemi was reunited with his ancestors at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital in Ado Ekiti.
The Alaafin of Oyo’s remains have since been returned to his palace.

Adeyemi passed away at the age of 83.
The Alaafin of Oyo was the state’s longest-serving ruler, reigning for 52 years.
The late monarch came from the ruling house of Alowodu.
Oba Adeyemi succeeded Oba Gbadegesin Ladigbolu I in 1970.
The revered monarch is popularly referred to as Iku Baba Yeye.
Adeyemi is survived by several wives and children.
