Benjamin Ezeukwe, 28, has been successfully apprehended by the Lagos State Police Command. He was identified as the brains behind a fake sales promotion by Dangote Cement.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, claims that in September 2023, the suspect tricked gullible Nigerians into believing that Dangote Cement had undergone a significant price cut through a fraudulent internet advertisement.
A large number of people became victims of the fraud, causing millions of Naira in severe financial losses.
On October 19, 2023, Ezeukwe was arrested in the Rumuolumeni neighbourhood of the Obio/Akpor local government area in Rivers.

The arrest came after weeks of painstaking investigation by Lagos State Police Command personnel assigned to the Area A Command.
Law enforcement found important evidence when searching Ezeukwe’s belongings, including a Tecno phone, an iPhone, three SIM cards (one used for fraud with the number 08039691980), and a Toyota Avalon that was allegedly purchased with money obtained from his illegal activities.
Hundeyin underlined that the suspect’s involvement in multiple other scams that are identical has been revealed by the ongoing inquiry.
Ezeukwe has already been charged, and as the case develops, further court appearances are anticipated.
