The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Baba has issued a new and better dress code for female police officers in Nigeria.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced this in a statement on Friday.
The new clothing code was presented by the police chief at the IGP’s meeting with Strategic Police Managers on Thursday, March 3, 2022, according to a Force official.

Female police officers, according to Adejobi, can now wear stud earrings and headscarves under their berets or peak hats while on duty.
The new clothing code, according to the IGP, is in accordance with worldwide best practices.
He said the dress code addresses the growing concern for gender mainstreaming and respect for culture and diversity.
He said the IGP noted that the Nigeria Police workforce has officers from every local government in the country with a variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds and increased inclusion of female folks.
“This, therefore, brings the need to guarantee inclusion, gender mainstreaming, ethnic and religious diversity in the workplace for optimum output and professionalism.
“This has informed the improvement for effective global workforce diversity management. Other countries that have adopted the same dress code include Canada, the United States of America, Sweden, Turkey, Australia and the United Kingdom amongst others.
