Gafaru Buraimoh, 31, of Land Estate, Ajah, was shot dead by a police officer belonging to the Ajah Divisional Police Lagos State Command.
Gafaru Buraimoh was hit by a stray bullet as he exited SkyMall on Tuesday at 10:00 p.m.
The gunshot that killed Buraimoh occurred while police officers from Ajiwe Divisional Police in Ajah were raiding people selling black market fuel at the Ajiwe filling station.
However, violence began when authorities attempted to confiscate a black marketer’s fuel, which he resisted.

His defiance enraged the cops, who began shooting indiscriminately.
According to Muyideen, the deceased brother who talked to Vanguard, the incident occurred yesterday around 10:00 p.m.
“The police wanted to arrest those that are selling black markets and they started shooting because they refuse to allow them impound their fuel.
Unfortunately, Buraimoh was exiting SkyMall when he was wounded by a stray bullet.”
The deceased’s father lamented, “I was at home when they contacted me this morning and told I should come, that my son was shot.” CSP Mustapha, the DPO, stated that they will investigate into the case.”
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Police Public Relations Officer of Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the occurrence, saying, “The officer responsible for the shooting, an Inspector of Police, was immediately disarmed and detained, and a full-scale investigation has begun.”

Hundeyin went on to say that the Lagos State Police Command, through Area Commander Elemoro and Divisional Police Officer Ajah, had alerted and made contact with the family.
The Command, while commiserating with the family of the deceased over the avoidable and most unfortunate incident, gives assurances that the already commenced investigation into the immediate and remote circumstances leading to the shooting will be brought to a speedy and conclusive end, while equally ensuring that justice is served”, Hundeyin added.
