88 members of the House of Representatives have submitted a motion calling on the federal government to halt the execution of the controversial agreement until all of its articles are addressed and clarified, amid the controversy surrounding the Samoa Agreement.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, there was a strong response against the Samoa Agreement that the Federal Government signed with the European Union because many people disapproved of what they perceived to be the acknowledgment of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) rights.
Aliyu Madaki, a member of the House, brought attention to the section that promotes “gender equality” and referred to it as a Trojan horse that could go against the nation’s ideals when she moved the resolution on Tuesday.
