The Nkawkaw Magistrate Court in Ghana has remanded in police custody a 71-year-old visually challenged man named George Mudor for the murder of his wife in her sleep.
Mudor allegedly murdered his 65-year-old wife, Madam Grace, with a machete on March 14, 2023, in Abepotia near Nkawkaw in the Kwawu West Municipality of Ghana’s Eastern region.
The woman, who had become tired of caring for her blind husband for more than five years, is reported to have threatened to divorce him.

But, in the early hours of March 14, the suspect decapitated his wife while she was still sleeping.
In court, the defendant confesses to killing his wife over her choice to divorce him and begged His Worship for mercy before His Worship, Isaac Agyei.
His wife of 28 years, he claims, celebrated the benefits in his life with him and threatened to divorce him when things became bad.
Co-defendants said the murder was planned because the suspect had made threats that were not taken seriously owing to his condition.
Samuel Aliffo, the deceased’s brother, expressed horror at the suspect’s actions and pleaded for justice to be served.
