The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) announced on Monday that Globacom subscribers may experience trouble making calls to MTN lines in the near future as a result of unpaid interconnect fees. The notice was signed by Reuben Muoka, Director of the Public Affairs Department.
The NCC said that it has given Globacom’s separation from MTN Nigeria Communications Plc partial clearance.

According to the notice, “Globacom was notified of the application made by MTN and was given the opportunity to comment and state its case. The Commission, having examined the application and circumstances surrounding the indebtedness, determined that Globacom does not have sufficient or justifiable reason for non-payment of the interconnect charges.”
The NCC also revealed that Globacom customers may no longer be able to make calls to MTN lines after ten days from the notice date, although they will still be able to receive calls.
Inbound calls to the Globacom network will still be able to get through despite the partial disconnection.
