The University of Ilorin, situated in Kwara State, has recently enforced disciplinary measures against 19 students, including six final-year students, for their involvement in a range of infractions. This decision, sanctioned by Vice Chancellor Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), comes following recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee during its 220th/221st meeting.
Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, relayed this development in a press release issued in Ilorin on Monday. The infractions leading to expulsion or rustication varied from misconduct, theft, examination malpractice, and hostel bed-space racketeering to assault and admission racketeering.
Prof. Egbewole also extended appreciation towards the university’s unions for their support during the recent warning strike declared by NASU. He highlighted the smooth conduct of ongoing semester examinations, emphasizing the unions’ responsible approach.
The penalties meted out to the erring students include rustication for either one semester or one academic session, as well as expulsion. These students, representing various academic disciplines such as Arts, Education, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Basic Medical Science, and Performing Arts, span different academic levels.

Furthermore, Prof. Wahab Egbewole SAN clarified that the recent 7-day nationwide warning strike declared by NASU/SSANU did not disrupt the ongoing semester examination process at the University of Ilorin. He expressed gratitude towards the unions and the university staff for ensuring a seamless examination process.
Reiterating the commitment to foster an enabling environment for the university’s ‘Smart Agenda,’ the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of sustainable development, adaptive capacity, and team building.
