The Senate President Godswill Akpabio has come under heavy fire from the Arewa Youths Forum (AYF) over his recent comments that held former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele accountable for Nigeria’s economic problems.
The AYF chastised Akpabio severely, comparing his acts to “the pot calling the kettle black” and accusing him of hypocrisy.
Akpabio’s critics, according to the youth forum, were a simple publicity stunt meant to draw attention away from his own accusations of corruption and current legal disputes with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The Arewa Youths Forum brought attention to the corruption charges against Akpabio, highlighting an N40 billion fraud in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and over N86 billion in contract frauds. They also reminded the public about Akpabio’s prior invitation for questioning from the EFCC.
The Arewa Youths Forum emphasised the need of justice and accountability in resolving accusations of corruption, and it asked Nigerians to see through Akpabio’s deceptive tactics.
The organisation expressed dissatisfaction with Akpabio’s comments and recommended that those who are accused of corruption refrain from levelling unfounded accusations against others.
“Any discerning mind would not hesitate to conclude that Akpabio’s outing was nothing by diversionary tactics, typical of the pot calling the kettle black,” the group stated.
