Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has urged Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP’s embattled national chairman, to quit or ask for forgiveness.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, a number of angry opposition party members, including Governors Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Ortom, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, former Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, and others, have demanded Ayu’s resignation.
These resentful people have criticized Ayu’s choice to continue leading the party despite what they claim to be partial behavior during the PDP presidential primaries that resulted in the nomination of his fellow northerner, Atiku Abubakar.

Ortom, Wike and other unhappy members had lately walked out of the PDP presidential campaign till Ayu is removed.
Speaking during the Executive Council meeting in Government House Makurdi over the weekend, Ortom recalled that Ayu vowed to retire if a northern candidate emerges presidential candidate of the party.
The governor of Benue State, who played a key role in Ayu’s rise to the position of party chairman, pleaded with the former Senate President to keep his commitment.
Ortom said: ”Ayu told the whole world that if a northern candidate emerges he will resign. So where is the honour now to continue in office?
“If you don’t want to resign beg for pardon. But it is not enough to say your tenure is four years and you won’t resign as you said it yourself.”
