Jigawa State Governor Mohammed Badaru has informed Nigerian students that the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) is collaborating with the Federal Government to pay the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ seven-month salary arrears (ASUU).
According to him, the federation’s 36 governors have begun working on legal solutions to the dispute with ASUU.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, Badaru told the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) during the inauguration of its National Executive Council (NEC) in Abuja that the NGF prays to get to the bottom of the issue since students have suffered enough.

The governor also prayed for the avoidance of another strike, noting that President Muhammadu Buhari is aware of the situation and that everything is being done to ensure the smooth academic operation of the country’s public universities.
The governor, who thanked NANS President Usman Barambu and executives, committed to support and improve the association’s welfare.
Badaru advanced that “We have already started and we will get to the bottom of it and we pray that this will be resolved and we pray that there won’t be any other strike because the students have suffered enough and I am sure the president is aware of this.
“So, we are looking at legal ways to finalise the salary payment. I assure you that together with all the 36 governors we will support you and make sure things improve for the betterment of the students.
