The Kano State government, led by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, has stated that it is currently analyzing the Saturday March 18 governorship election process and collation of election results in order to take appropriate action.
This comes after the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) proclaimed the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) governorship candidate, Abba Kabir Yusuf, the victor of the hotly contested state governorship race.
According to the INEC results, Yusuf received 1,019,602 votes to defeat the incumbent Deputy Governor, Nasiru Yusuf-Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 892,705 votes.

In response to the election results, the APC-led state administration advised its supporters to avoid the NNPP’s provocations in the name of celebrations.
Remember that the state had already proclaimed curfew after Yusuf was declared governor-elect in an attempt to dampen celebrations, but Yusuf supporters disobeyed the curfew.
The Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, informed the governor, Ganduje, of his commitment to protect lives and property.
Garba was quoted as saying that “The APC is analysing the election process and collation of results with a view to taking a decision at the appropriate time. We appeal to members to continue to be resolute, loyal and faithful to the party.”
