The Presidency has responded to the nominations of Nigerian performers for the 66th Grammy Awards.
Bayo Onanuga, a presidential assistant, congratulated the musicians on their achievements in a post on his verified X profile on Friday night.
He wrote: “Congratulations to Nigerian singers Davido, Burna Boy, Asake/Olamide, and Ayra Starr for their nominations in the 66th Grammy Awards which will take place Sunday 4 Feb. 2024 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.”

Remember that Nigerian musicians like Davido, Burna Boy, Olamide, and Ayra Starr were nominated for several accolades at the renowned ceremony.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, David Adeleke, also known as Davido, has received his first Grammy nomination. The ‘OBO’ singer received three nominations for songs on his upcoming studio album ‘Timeless,’ which will be released in 2023.
Burna Boy has officially become the first Nigerian musician with the most Grammy nominations in the award’s history, with four on the 2024 list.
Burna Boy’s ‘Sittin’ On Top of The World’ is the first African song to be nominated for a Grammy in the Rap category. It was nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance.
Similarly, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, widely known as Ayra Starr, a 21-year-old singer, has made history as the youngest Nigerian to bag a Grammy nomination.

At the 66th Grammy Awards, her hit song ‘Rush’ was nominated in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category.
Meanwhile, Olamide has made history by being the first Nigerian rapper to receive a Grammy nomination.
Olamide’s collaboration with Asake, ‘Amapiano,’ was nominated for Best African Music Performance for the first time.
