OHANEZE: NNAMDI KANU CAN’T BE ‘KILLED’ OVER CLAIMS OF NEW BUHARI – JUBRIL OF SUDAN
Ohanaeze Ndigbo has reacted to the claim by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, that President Muhammadu Buhari is “Jubril from Sudan.”
Conversation with news agency, on Saturday, Chuks Ibegbu, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the organisation said Kanu should not be killed for this purpoted claim.
Ibegbu noted that the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has the constitutional right to express and air his views, though the Organisation (Ohanaeze Ndigbo) has no proof that Buhari was Jubril from Sudan.
According to Ibegbu: “Nnamdi Kanu has the freedom and constitutional right to take positions on any national issue, he’s a Nigerian though pursuing Biafra agenda so to say, but that does not mean we buy-in to all his views. Our interest is seeing Nigeria being restructured; make Nigeria a place where all constituent units will have a place of belonging and he (Nnamdi Kanu) is on complete secession.
Ibegbu further added that, “Kanu believes that Nigeria can’t be restructured because those in-charge of the restructuring are not so sincere, he so much believes that there is never a way Nigeria can be restructured, so, secession is his own option and the only way.
‘There is no need killing him because of his opinions, anyone has the right to express his/her self and is allowed in international law so we can’t say he should die because of his opposing view. We are in a market place of idea. For instance, Boko Haram want caliphate in the North but they are doing it violently but in the case of Nnamdi Kanu there is no violence, so can you now match his actions along with the insurgents that have killed over 450, 000 Nigerians?
Ibegbu continued; “On the story about Jubril, we don’t know where he (Nnamdi Kanu) got his information that that reveals that Buhari is from Sudan, we don’t have any proof that the man presently in Aso Rock is not Buhari.”
