The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a warning regarding the imminent arrival of dust haze and reduced visibility in certain northern states of Nigeria. This advisory also extends to airline operators, urging them to exercise caution and adhere to the weather reports provided by the agency.
Dust Haze Forecast:
NiMet has forecasted the occurrence of dust haze in northern states of Nigeria, particularly originating from stations in Niger (Goure, Zinder, Maine-Soroa, Diffa, N-Guigmi, and 61091). The dust haze is expected to result in horizontal visibility ranging from 800 meters to 6000 meters within the next 24 hours. The dust haze is anticipated to reduce horizontal visibility, especially in areas like Katsina, Kano, Nguru, Jigawa, Potiskum, and Maiduguri over the next 24 hours.
NiMet has indicated that the dust haze originates from the source region, with strong winds contributing to its propagation into the northern parts of Nigeria. The source region, in this case, is Chad.
