A coalition of stakeholders and aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC in Anambra State on Saturday raised the alarm that ‘food-is-ready’ politicians in the state were trying to hijack the party from its founding members.
They alleged that a certain serving senator and two female ex-senators wrote results of the party primary in a hotel.
In a press conference in Awka by the senatorial and House of Representatives aspirants, the politicians said the exercise didn’t take place in any part of the state.
The spokesperson for the politicians, Chief Nelson Onubogu, who is an aspirant for Anambra North senatorial district, said, “Our party scheduled its primary for October 4 and we mobilised our supporters for the election. But to our surprise, we could not find the committee members for the conduct of the election.
“The exercise was shifted to October 5, yet we didn’t see them. We called all their mobiles but none of them picked our call.’’

They also accused former members of the Peoples Democratic Party who joined the APC of being responsible for the problem associated with the exercise.
Another aspirant, Mr Ebele Obi, who is seeking the party’s ticket for Anambra Central senatorial district, said ‘Fair-weather politicians’ had taken over the party in the state.
He said, “These people are not members of our party. They joined the party because we are in power. If we did not win elections in 2015, would they have joined us?”
