The House of Representatives caucus representing Rivers State has requested that Speaker Tajudeen Abbas speak to Representative Ikenga Ugochinyere on her intervention in the state’s political turmoil.
In a statement released on Friday, the caucus leader, Hon. Dumnamene Dekor, stated that Ugochinyere is not in any way affected by the current circumstances in Rivers State because he is from Imo State, a state that is dealing with a multitude of political and social issues of its own, regarding which Ugochinyere is unable to find a voice.
The caucus said that there has never been enough discussion of the issue in Rivers on the House floor to justify the involvement of other members in the debate.

It further stated that Ugochinyere has disregarded responsibility, caution, and decorum—all of which are expected of him given the high position he currently holds—since the argument.
The caucus emphasised that, in order to pad his nest, Ugochinyere has instead presented himself as a genuine instrument and an agent provocateur for a cause he is ignorant of.
It further stated that Ugochinyere’s acts under the pretence of serving as a representative outside the House unquestionably violate sections 49 and 72 of the constitution, as well as the rights of caucus members and the House’s integrity.
The caucus said: “The attention of the Rivers Caucus in the House of Representatives has been drawn to yet another unfortunate and misleading press briefing by Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere on Tuesday, regarding the ongoing disagreement between the governor of Rivers State and the House of Assembly, and latterly, local government chairmen.
Ugochinyere Reacts To EFCC Raid On Dangote Head Office
“His latest sponsored intervention is laden with all the ingredients that characterized all his previous outings: blackmail, half-truths, outright lies, misinformation and disinformation, and malicious propaganda.
“In every instance, his prejudicial media statements also constitute a thoughtless assault on due process and ongoing judicial processes aimed at resolving the disagreement in Rivers. As our colleague who sits in the House of Representatives today courtesy of the judgment of a court, that is beyond embarrassing.
“Consequently, we hereby publicly call on the leadership of the House of Representatives to take urgent steps to discipline and rein in this errant member who is gradually bringing disrepute to the House and soliciting the support of some gullible members without fully disclosing his pecuniary interest.”
