In connection with the murder of Idowu Hamzat, a 36-year-old teacher, on Saturday in the Epe neighborhood of Lagos, three people have been detained.
The teacher’s attackers were believed to have enticed him away from his base in the capital city of Oyo State, Ibadan. However, it was unable to determine the motivation for the heinous deed as of publication.
It was claimed that the accused, Omobowale, Agbomeji Nojeem, Kazeem Apena, beat Hamzat to death, and then dumped his body in a bush in the Epe neighborhood of Eredo.
A local citizen who saw the victim’s life being snuffed out on Saturday night alerted vigilante group members, who then called the police.

A mobile telephone and an Midentification card on the corpse, according to a resident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, assisted in tracing family members of the deceased.
The resident said: “He was beaten to death by about 10 men. Nobody knew what he did. The identification card found on him by members of the vigilante group showed he was a teacher in Ibadan.
“From the contacts in his phone, they contacted his parents. They (parents) expressed shock on hearing their son was in Epe. His parents came over the weekend. They said their son had not been to Epe before.”
