COSEYL, the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, has given the Lagos State Government a seven-day deadline to apologize to southeast indigenes who were recently attacked in the state.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, a minor incident occurred on Thursday at Alaba International Market in Ojo, Lagos, when several Igbo entrepreneurs who had closed their stores to register for the Permanent Voters Card, PVC, were allegedly assaulted by hoodlums.
Concerned Nigerians have claimed that certain political players are behind the attack, claiming that their goal is to disenfranchise the Igbos.

In response, COSEYL’s President General, Goodluck Ibem, released a statement warning against such attacks, stating the insults directed at Igbos in the state must end.
The coalition also demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of the assailants, saying the incident clearly indicated a security crisis in the state.
The statement reads partly, “We warn those thugs and their sponsors not to dare such attack again on Igbo traders or else they will meet a corresponding response. Nobody has the monopoly of violence. Enough of such insult on Ndigbo.
“We demand an apology to Ndigbo within the next 7 days. Enough said!”
