Sonia, the 25-year-old daughter of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, has requested a kidney donation from the general public.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, this comes barely two months after Ekweremadu and his wife were detained for suspected conspiracy to enable David Ukpo’s travel for organ harvesting for their daughter.
The couple was later arraigned and tried at London’s Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court.

The senator and his wife requested for bail but were rejected because prosecutors told the court that Ekweremadu obtained a passport for the youngster and stated he was 21 years old only to learn he was 15 years old.
Sonia stated in an Instagram statement that she was diagnosed with a rare kidney ailment in 2019 and that her family did everything they could to save her life, including taking her to numerous hospitals, but the condition continued and worsened.
She also revealed that she is currently having dialysis three to four times per week in London at the expense of her family because she is ineligible for the National Health Service due to her immigration status.
According to her, the last three years have been exceedingly difficult, and the imprisonment of her parents is directly related to her sickness, complicating matters.

She, on the other hand, appealed to the public to readily assist her with a kidney donation, stating that every member of her family would have donated their kidney for her; however, medical evaluation revealed that the cause is genetic.
She went on to say that once she had fully recovered, she would commit and dedicate herself to helping individuals with renal disease.
