Ikechukwu Emetu has been announced as running mate for Alex Otti, the Labour Party (LP) candidate for governor of Abia.
Otti delivered the speech at the nation’s capital, Umuahia, where he also established his campaign council.
Nnanna Ngwu, a previous representative, will act as the chairman.
Otti added that Emetu’s history as a humanitarian was what initially drew Otti to him.
The business tycoon claimed that Emetu, a 38-year-old engineer, fulfilled his wish for a young person to serve as his deputy.
The LP flagbearer recalled his vow to give the young of Abia a sense of inclusion in politics.
Otti claimed that Emetu is well-known for “community development work and humanitarian gestures” in his Ohafia Local Government Area.
“So in all, he fits squarely into the characteristic and quality of the kind of deputy that I yearned for”, NAN quoted him saying.
Otti emphasized his team’s confidence in their ability to run an effective and goal-oriented campaign that would guarantee success in 2023.
Emetu expressed his gratitude to the candidate for choosing him and promised to rally his friends to support the LP.
“This opportunity is not only for me but for millions of Abia youths. You have made us to believe that the future truly belongs to the youth”, Emetu said.
