On Saturday, a suspected member of a deadly armed robbery gang met his Waterloo after a shoot-out with police agents in Owerri, Imo State’s capital.
According to reports, the gunmen invaded Goldwise Jewellery Shop in Ikenegbu Layout, adjacent Kilimanjaro Ekwema Crescent in Owerri, around noon.
According to an eyewitness, the criminal gang of seven, who arrived in a white Toyota Hilux, ran into police command operatives who had blocked off the area after shooting the driver.
After the cops shot the driver, other members of the gang fled.

He also stated that two people were apprehended and ammunition was found during the operation.
Henry Okoye, the Imo State Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the suspects’ deaths while parading the two suspects out of a seven-member gang.
The police spokesman further said, “At the point of arrest, one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, two live ammunition, one military camouflage, and some other military accouterments were recovered from them”.
Gaura Peter, 27, of Koji State, and Joshuah Promise, 25, of Delta State, he added, were detained and are in the command’s custody.
