The registration for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB examination is an annual event with its attendant tensions, anticipations, joys, and near misses. It is a big moment for hundreds of thousands of Nigerian youths seeking to make the climb into tertiary institutions, in pursuit of education, an important stage in the pursuit of happiness. For people interested in studying in the Southeast, we set out to compile a list of the top universities using UniRank and QS ranking.
We are doing this because we are aware that choosing a university of study is a dicey process. Aside from the short-term factors that you need to take into account, such as the reputation of the university, the quality of the course, and the location of the campus, proximity or otherwise to your state of origin.
There are also long-term factors to consider. The name of your school can open doors for you. Where you study, the strong Alumni connection, the city the school is located in can end up having a significant impact on your career prospects. Therefore, it’s important to do your research.
The course of study can be forced on candidates by the JAMB and other deciding bodies but the school of choice is totally the candidate’s decision. Doing this, we only looked at state and federal universities. For a list on private universities, check here.
