BREAKING: EFCC Interrogates Fayemi Over Misappropriation Of N4bn

According to information obtained by The ANAEDOONLINE, Kayode Fayemi, a former governor of Ekiti State, is now being questioned at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s zonal command office in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Reliable sources with knowledge of the issue told our correspondent that on Thursday, around 9:40 am, Fayemi arrived to the EFCC premises. Around 9:40 am today, Fayemi arrived at our Kwara command office.

According to a source, our agents are currently questioning him on the suspected theft of N4 billion.
“I’m uncertain as to whether he would be held today or released.

Ex-Ekiti State Gov, Fayemi Drags Arise TV For Defamation, Demands N500m

Kayode Fayemi, the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, has launched a N500 million action against Arise Television and Kayode Otitoju, the state’s former Commissioner for Information, for alleged defamation and malicious airing of objectionable broadcasts against him.

The former governor is suing Arise TV for N250 million and Otitoju for N250 million for allegedly defamatory comments made by the commissioner as an analyst on the television station on November 22, 2022.

Fayemi is demanding a retraction of the defamatory statements made by the first defendant (Otitoju) while appearing as an analyst on Arise TV in the suit, HAD/10/2023, filed on January 25, 2023, before an Ekiti State High Court and made available to newsmen on Sunday through his lawyer, Babatunde Oke.

Fayemi also demanded a public apology in at least three Nigerian national newspapers and on the internet/social media. He further requests that the court grant him a perpetual injunction prohibiting the defendants from making additional defamatory publications or remarks against him, as well as the sum of N20 million in legal fees. In addition to the 10% interest from the moment the judgment is delivered until the sum is completely liquidated.

Fayemi claimed that the defendants’ false and reckless, malicious statements had exposed him to “unwarranted embarrassment, public ridicule, opprobrium, odium, and unprecedented disrepute,” which he described as mere fabrication and falsehood orchestrated to taint his good record and image as an upright man and to destroy his future political career.

He said that during the abovementioned broadcast, Otitoju made various damaging and severe claims about him, referring to him (Fayemi) as “the problem we have in Ekiti.”

Kayode Fayemi, governor of Ekiti State and head of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, has been chosen to lead the Forum of Regions of Africa.

According to ANAEDOONLINE.NG, Governor Fayemi was chosen on Friday in an election held in the Moroccan city of Saidia.

From September 8 to September 10, Morocco will host the inaugural FORAF under the patronage of His Majesty, King Mohammed VI.

According to ANAEDOONLINE.NG, the Forum is organised by United Cities and Local Governments of Africa, in collaboration with the Association of Moroccan Regions, the Council of the Oriental Region and the Directorate General of Territorial Collectivities of the Ministry of the Interior of the Kingdom of Morocco.

On Sunday evening, the governor explained his reasoning in a series of tweets.

Fayemi, who spent the evening with Tinubu, revealed that he stood down for him since the chieftain was a powerful figure in NADECO’s terrible days.

According to him: “Tinubu is one person that I have worked with in the democratic struggles and was one of the wheels on which the engine of NADECO spun in the dark days of authoritarian rule.

Sharing photos of their meeting on Twitter, Fayemi added, “It was a real delight to spend the weekend with my leader and mentor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT who recently emerged as the Presidential Candidate of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 general election.

“I also had the opportunity to introduce Mr @biodunaoyebanji, APC candidate in the Ekiti gubernatorial election, scheduled for June 18, 2022.”

ISWAP Is Not Responsible For Owo Attack – Governor Fayemi

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has dismissed the Federal Government’s assertion that the attack on St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State was carried out by the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP).

On June 5, unknown gunmen stormed St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo state, killing over 40 people and injuring many more, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

In response to the heinous deaths on June 9, the Federal Government stated that the incident was related to ISWAP since the terrorist group’s imprint was discovered at the crime site.

Rauf Aregbesola, the Minister of Interior, confirmed this to State House media during a meeting of the National Security Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said that security services had been directed to track down the criminals and bring them to justice, and that the church had not been targeted for ethnic reasons.

However, in a Monday interview with Channels Television, Fayemi stated that the federal government’s assertion is merely hypothetical and unsubstantiated.

According to the governor, there isn’t a scrap of proof linking ISWAP to the horrible attack in Owo.

The shooters, according to Fayemi, committed a horrific act and exhibited their utmost potential to harm the inhabitants of the region.

“And really at this stage, it doesn’t matter, they have committed a heinous crime and demonstrate the maximum capacity to cause damage to our people, our duty is to ensure that this does not occur again and we go after elements of this nature, whichever organisation they represent.”

Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum Kayode Fayemi has announced that Nigeria will get her first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines by the end of February.

Mr Fayemi said Nigeria is among 12 African countries that have indicated readiness to receive vaccines, according to a communique issued from the NGF virtual meeting held on Wednesday, but made public on Thursday.

It reads: “The NGF Chairman, H.E. Dr. Kayode Fayemi, briefed State governors on a meeting with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Chair of the Board of Gavi, the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, on the rollout of the COVAX facility which is a global risk-sharing mechanism co-led by Gavi, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to facilitate pooled procurement and the equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines across developing countries.

“Nigeria is among 12 countries in Africa that have indicated readiness of the 92 qualified countries for the facility and will by end of February 2021 receive its first shipment of vaccines.

“The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has indicated that vaccines will be administered in four (4) phases, based on vaccine type and availability, initially for frontline health workers, then the aged (55yrs and above), persons with underlying medical conditions and other target groups.”
