Toyosi, a young woman who goes by the name Toyosi, was detained for spreading fake information on Twitter.
Deji Adesogan, a media celebrity, announced her arrest in a post on microblogging, according to Anaedoonline.ng.
After alleging in a post that she was raped and kidnapped, the lady sparked outrage and a storm of responses on the bird app.
Many netizens contacted Toyosi to inquire about her safety after she revealed the phone number of the suspected perpetrator.
Toyosi, who goes by the Twitter handle @ misteriouss, also said that her alleged violator committed the crime in Lagos’ Akoka neighborhood.
The Lagos Police Department sprung into action, arriving at the address Toyosi supplied and arresting the building’s residents.
Toyosi quickly responded on Twitter, stating that she was OK and that the incident had been a hoax.
Her brother reacted to the news by accusing her of fabricating the false alarm in order to gain attention, despite the fact that her Twitter followers had climbed to 3000 from 1000.
Toyosi’s actions have elicited a flood of responses, with netizens condemning her and demanding her imprisonment.
The Lagos State Police Command swooped in and took her into custody.
Sharing the development, Adesogan Tweeted “FINALLY: Lagos State Police Command has reportedly arrested Miss @_misteriouss & set for her arraignment before a Lagos court, for raising the false alarm (of rape & kidnapping) & disturbance of public peace.”
