Alex Otti, the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Abia State, has stated that if won, his administration will build a functional light rail system to facilitate the flow of commerce and agricultural products.
Otti made the vow during a speech to supporters in the state’s Ikwuano LGA on Friday, stating the rail would connect the state’s whole 17 local government areas (LGAs).
The LP candidate visited with local stakeholders as well as party members to solicit their support for the March 11th election in Abia.

He told the audience that he had begun discussions with Chinese investors about the light rail project, and that the proposal was outlined in his manifesto.
One of the first things he will accomplish if elected is to connect all of the LGAs in the state by rail, which will aid in the transfer of agricultural products across the state.
He expressed sadness for the state’s dismal status of roads, health facilities, infrastructure, and education.
Obi Aguacha, the LP candidate for House of Representatives, and Chinedu Friday, a community leader, both voiced trust in Otti, calling him as the best candidate, in separate statements.
