President Bola Tinubu has landed in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, for a three-day official visit, responding to an invitation from President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. The President’s Gulfstream aircraft touched down at Saint Isabel Airport at 2:07 PM local time, where he was welcomed by Prime Minister Manuela Roka Botey of Equatorial Guinea.
This visit marks President Tinubu’s first official trip to the Central African nation and his seventh visit to an African country since taking office 15 months ago. While in Malabo, President Tinubu will meet with President Mbasogo at the Presidential Villa, where the two leaders are expected to engage in discussions and oversee the signing of significant agreements, particularly focused on oil, gas, and security cooperation.
Accompanying the Nigerian President are key members of his cabinet, including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar. These officials will participate in the formal agreements and explore new avenues for strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea.
Since assuming office, President Tinubu has been actively engaging in diplomatic efforts across the globe. His travels have taken him to 22 foreign destinations, including multiple visits to France, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and the United States, as well as other strategic locations in Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. This visit to Equatorial Guinea underscores his administration’s commitment to fostering strong international partnerships.
