The Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, MBGN, Pageant which took place in Eko Hotels, Lagos, the night of September 18th, 2021 is one that would echo for many years. It featured some of the most beautiful girls to ever graced the MBGN stage and also the smartest, from Miss Abia to Miss Zamfara, gorgeous girls.
Miss Abuja, Oluchi Madubuike won the prize. But she wasn’t the only winner. The MBGN Pageant awards the top three the right to represent Nigeria on the world stage. Miss Abuja as the winner would represent Nigeria at Miss World while Miss Abia Chineme Adaeze who placed second won the right to represent Nigeria at Miss Universe.
Moment Oluchi Madubuike won Miss Nigeria
Chineme Adaeze was asked, during the questions section, how she would convince a foreign considering Nigeria for a holiday. The question demands that Chineme talk up the rich tourist centres in Nigeria, specifically naming places and saying what each named place offers differently.
Adaeze wasn’t specific. Her emphasis what Nigerians were good people and “kind-hearted people that would welcome them [tourists] wholeheartedly.” A good answer but not the kind but perhaps not the kind of answer that wins pageants.
The winner, Miss Abuja, gave the most eloquent answer when asked about the area where women should be most empowered. Miss Bauchi had the weakest answer, faltering at some point when asked the best ways to stay safe in this pandemic. A moment of madness ensued when some in the audience began to boo her.
The third-placed beauty queen is Miss Anambra, Maristella Okpala, and she would represent Nigeria at Miss Supranational.
The Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria contest did not hold last year due to disruption of the covid-19 pandemic. Many who watched the event last night would attest that the show was worth the two-year wait.
