In a distressing turn of events, Leah Sharibu, the Christian schoolgirl who was abducted by members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), has reportedly been forced into a second marriage with another terrorist commander, following her supposed divorce from her initial captor.
Leah Sharibu’s tragic ordeal began when she and over 100 of her schoolmates were kidnapped from Government Girls Technical College in Dapchi, Yobe State, on February 19, 2018. Reports from a few years ago indicated that Leah had been married off and had become a mother during her captivity.
Local security sources have now revealed that Leah, after her alleged divorce from her first husband, Abdulrahman, was forcibly remarried to another ISWAP commander operating in the Lake Chad region, identified as Ali Abdallah.
According to a source, Leah’s initial marriage to Abdulrahman resulted in the birth of two children, both boys, who were named after two deceased Boko Haram commanders. However, the details of what led to her divorce and subsequent remarriage remain unknown.
Revealed: Leah Sharibu Gave Birth To TWO Children For Boko Haram In One Year
During her time in captivity, Leah was purportedly trained to provide medical services to injured Boko Haram fighters and women. It’s a chilling tactic employed by terrorists in the North East to exploit the expertise of their captives, who possess skills in areas like medicine, nursing, engineering, and computer science, among others. These captives are then forced to train the group’s members in these fields.
The source also revealed that Leah had been “trained” as a medical professional and now leads the ISWAP medical team in the northern part of the Lake Chad area.
In a recent development, Leah, her new husband Ali Abdallah, and other fighters were reportedly spotted at Dogon Chukwun Kangarwa just ten days ago. Her husband, a commander within ISWAP, and his comrades are facing persecution from a Boko Haram commander loyal to Abubakar Shekau, known as Malam Bakura.
Why Boko Haram Has Refused To Release Leah Sharibu – FG
Alarming reports have emerged that a significant number of ISWAP fighters are currently in the process of relocating from the area, passing through the Guzamala forest. They have been observed carrying a cache of dangerous weapons along the route from Cross to Mosquito camp, Garin-giwa (where Governor Zulum’s convoy was attacked), Munguno, and Gajiram.
Leah Sharibu’s plight serves as a painful reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by those affected by terrorism in Nigeria and the urgent need for efforts to secure the release of kidnapped individuals and bring an end to these harrowing experiences.
