He bemoaned the ritual killings carried out “by dishonest people, the majority of whom are young, who are striving to make rich at any cost.”
According to Mohammed, the Buhari government has begun the process of raising national awareness about the problem.
“For those who are still unsure, ritual killings have taken on a frightening new dimension in recent years,” he explained.
Between January 2018 and December 2021, 150 women and girls were slain across Nigeria, according to the Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) study.
Mohammed stated that the National Orientation Agency (NOA) is collaborating with religious, traditional, and non-governmental groups (NGOs) to promote behavioral change.

The agency was also instructed to meet with Nollywood producers and stakeholders to discuss the need for them to avoid money-ritual storylines.
“The fact that some ritual killers said they learned the money-making tricks from some social media platforms has further given a fillip to the Federal Government’s campaign to rid social media of unwholesome content”, the minister added.
