The joint National Assembly Committee on drugs has approved the appointment of Mr. Abuchi Onwumelu as an ambassador.
Onwumelu, a journalist with FIDES Newspaper in Awka, Anambra State is also a member of the executive of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.

The Joint Committee of the Senate and House of Representatives on Drugs and Narcotics appointed me as an Ambassador on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Date: Wednesday, 28th July 2021. The appointment letter signed by Sen.
