Philip Agbese, the Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, has stated that Nigerians will soon be grateful that President Bola Tinubu approved Tajudeen Abbas as Speaker of the House.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the All Progressives Congress (APC) publicly adopted Abbas as its candidate for Speaker in April 2023.
Tinubu’s advice resulted in the party’s support for Abbas, prompting other candidates to step down in readiness for the inauguration of the 10th Assembly.

Agbese, speaking to the media from his office, thanked Tinubu and the APC for their decisiveness in choosing Abbas.
He said, “Recommending Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, to be Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives is one of the greatest steps taken in the right direction by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and our great party, the APC.”
Abbas’ remarkable leadership qualities and legislative prowess were also lauded by Agbese. He emphasised the formation of comprehensive policies and programmes in the 10th Assembly’s legislative agenda, signalling a solid foundation for the House’s activities.
He elaborated on Abbas’s commitment to transparency and training, stating, “The Speaker is committed to open NASS, where all and sundry would be abreast with the workings and happenings of the House in what we call citizens engagements. He is committed to providing quality training for lawmakers, bureaucrats, and even journalists covering the House.”

Concerned about the Assembly’s functionality due to the predominance of novice legislators, Agbese applauded members’ swift adaption.
He praised their commitment to House norms and efficient debates, which reflected a seamless legislative process.
