As the gladiators in the 2023 presidential elections wind down their campaigns, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, elderstatesman and national leader of Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, has insisted that Southerners would not fall for the Northern Elders Forum’s plot to impose another northerner on Nigerians in 2023.
He stated that not till President Muhammadu Buhari’s eight-year mandate is over.
He made the claim on Saturday during the Obi-Datti rally at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) in Lagos, stating that if Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, does not win the presidency in 2023, there will be no such thing as Nigeria.
Afenifere Leader, Adebanjo Reveals Why Next President Must Be Peter Obi
His words, “If Obi does not become president in 2023, then we may as well forget Nigeria. The Northern elders now say I want to impose Obi on them. They want to impose a Northerner on us and we are saying No!”.
“We are not here to sing and dance like the other parties. We must talk about how best to make this country work. We should be talking about how to remove area boys from the streets and provide jobs for them”.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the 2023 presidential elections would feature a number of strong contestants, including Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress, and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, among others.
While they have been touring the country pitching themselves to voters, a new poll by Bloomberg, a foreign media outlet, shows Obi of the Labour Party as the most likely to win the presidency in 2023.
