Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has received criticism from African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore for calling for the suspension of the ongoing tallying of presidential election results.
In a letter dated February 27, Obasanjo warned of “danger looming ahead” and urged President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.) to persuade the Independent National Electoral Commission to postpone collating the results of the presidential election while it addressed the various issues raised by Nigerians regarding the election’s conduct.

In a reaction to the ex-president’s letter, Sowore, who took to his Twitter page, alleged that Obasanjo organised some of the most fraudulent elections as president of Nigeria and, therefore, had no credibility to talk about fraudulent elections.
The publisher of Sahara Reporters wrote, “Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has no credibility to talk about fraudulent elections. Ex-Pres Obasanjo organised some of the most fraudulent elections during his 8 year tenure as President of Nigeria. He laid the foundation for the shambolic elections that has become Nigeria’s lot now!”
