Igwe Chidubem Iweka III, the traditional head of the Obosi community in Anambra State’s Idemili North Local Government Area, stated yesterday that he, his cabinet members, and other law-abiding residents of the Obosi Ancient Kingdom are aware of the whereabouts of notorious cultists in the neighborhood.
Speaking to reporters at his palace, Igwe Iweka, Godwin Osakwe claimed that the infamous cultists who assassinated the president-general of the Obosi town union, Ikechukwu Okolo, in cold blood on January 2 and caused tension to last for two days were responsible. He was flanked by some of his cabinet members, including the OduNkataego of Obosi.
The monarch stated that the cultists’ activities had gotten so bizarre that law-abiding Obosi residents couldn’t sleep at night. In fact, they were killing and maiming people virtually every day.
Soludo Protests Assassination Of A Community Leader And Others
He said that they have given law enforcement agencies the identities of the bandits and the raging cultists so that they might be apprehended, questioned, and possibly have their malicious activities in the area put an end to.
He pleaded with Governor Chukwuma Soludo and the leaders of the state’s security agencies, such as the police, DSS, Army, and Navy, to intervene and save them before these deadly cultists exterminate the entire populace, especially now that the royal cabinet and the town union have submitted the names of the suspects to the enforcement agencies.
Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police’s public relations officer, told reporters by SMS yesterday that the assassins had not yet been apprehended but added that the investigations were still proceeding.
