Olajide Adediran, often known as Jandor, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for governor in Lagos State, has explained his reasoning for picking Funke Akindele as his running partner.
There were rumors that Jandor chose the actress as his running mate without consulting party governors and other stakeholders.
Due to disagreements with the PDP candidate, Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, reportedly endorsed Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State and the APC’s nominee for governor, over Jandor.

When discussing the purported party crisis, Jandor claimed that before Akindele was introduced to the general public, he gave her to all of the party’s officials.
He added that he utilized his constitutional prerogative when he chose Akindele to be his running companion.
In an interview with Newsmen, Jandor responded to claims that he did not seek advice from party elders, saying, “I exercised my constitutional prerogative in choosing Funke Akindele and I presented her to all leaders of the party before presenting her publicly.”
The PDP governor refuted the assertion that he misled other PDP governors regarding the size of his support base in Lagos State.
