As the 2023 elections approach, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has asked the elder generation to stand aside in order to make way for the younger.
Obasanjo stated that the elder age should provide the necessary information and expertise to the younger generation in order to develop Nigeria.
The former President addressed at the Murtala Muhammed Foundation’s annual lecture for 2022 yesterday.

He chastised aging politicians who are still running for President in 2023.
“We need to have an intergenerational partnership,” Obasanjo says. When Murtala and Obasanjo were there, Fayemi stated he was in primary school.
“So, if people of the Murtala/Obasanjo era are competing with you as Governor, then, something is wrong.
“The Murtala/Obasanjo group should be stepping aside.
“Whatever experience and knowledge we have, we should be able to give it to you and you should be able to give it to those coming after you.”
