Ola Olukoyede, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has alluded to the fact that corruption is a universal problem and that Muslims and Christians alike have some of the blame for Nigeria’s corruption problems.
Speaking at a two-day training on improving fiscal discipline put on by the Ministry of Local Government in Kaduna State, Olukoyede emphasised that corruption is not limited by religion or tribe.
Through EFCC Zonal Commander ACE Aisha Abubakar, Olukoyede pushed local governments to aggressively back Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s anti-corruption initiatives.

Being the level of government closest to the people, he claimed that corruption is a widespread problem that calls for the local government to work together as one of the finest organisations to encourage the much-needed increased involvement of the local community in the anti-corruption movement.
He said it again, highlighting the nonreligious character of the battle against corruption: “Let me emphasise that corruption has no colour, no tribe, and no religion. Nigerian riches are stolen by both Muslims and Christians. According to Leadership, he stated, “The struggle against corruption is not between tribes, nor is it a conflict between religions.
“What we are fighting in this country is a battle between good and evil; it is a collective battle for the soul of Nigeria; a battle for the future generation of yet unborn Nigerians; it is indeed, the battle for the future of Africa,” he concluded.
