Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president, paid Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the president general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, a visit at his home in Owerri, Imo State.
Obasanjo conversed with Ohanaeze leaders throughout the gathering.
Speaking in Umuahia, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Secretary-General Ambassador Okey Emuchay disclosed that the meeting’s main focus was on “issues of mutual interest.”

He regarded the conference as important and symbolic, with productive discussions occurring.
Emuchay intimated that the Ndigbo community would soon benefit from the outcomes of the discussion, even though he did not reveal all the facts of the conversation.
He said, “Issues of mutual interest were discussed. The PG informed Chief Obasanjo that Nigeria should erect monuments in his name for the sacrifices he has made.
“He recalled his role in ending the civil war with the slogan of no victor no vanquished; repayment of huge external debts and recovery of the economy during his time as President.
“He informed the former President that the Igbo nation would bestow honour on him appropriately.
“Remember that when Chief Obasanjo was President, he appointed several Igbo sons and daughters into his cabinet and other high profile positions. A sense of belonging was provided the Igbo nation during that time.”

Otunba Oyewole Fasawe is reported to have accompanied the former president, while Bishop Sunday Onuoha, Ambassador Emuchay, and former Minister for Aviation, Amb Kema Chikwe, were among the Ohanaeze chieftains and Igbo leaders present at the meeting.
Dignitaries in attendance included Chief Tony Ukasanya and Nze Fidelis Ozichukwu.
