According to the Ondo State Police Command, a 27-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of fatally strangling a 17-year-old pupil on the grounds of a local school.
SP In a statement released on Thursday in Akure, Olufunmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the command spokesman, stated that the incident took place on July 4 at Ijaw National High School.
The victim, who is from Arogbo Ibe in the state’s Ese-Odo Local Government Area, allegedly enraged the suspect when he labeled him a mad man, according to Odunlami-Omisanya.

“On July 4, 2023, the principal of Ijaw National High School visited the station and reported that Meretighan Timibra, 17, of Arogbo Ibe, who was strangled to death by one Oke Loya, 27, who sought refuge at the school security gate during a downpour.
“The suspect who claimed the student called him a mad man, has been arrested and detained,” the police spokesman said.
