The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed alarm about the International Christian alarm (ICC) report, which rated Nigeria as one of the worst persecutors of Christians in its 2023 report.
According to reports, the ICC, a non-partisan Christian group, has listed Nigeria as one of the world’s most hazardous nations for Christians in 2023.
According to the outfit, fanatics and militants have been killing Christians and dispossessing them of their lands in the country for the past 20 years.

According to the report, Nigerian politicians have linked the attacks to farmer/herder battles intertwined with ethnic conflicts, labelling the killings and other atrocities as genocide against Christians.
According to the ICC, 549 Christians were killed in 55 incidents in Nigeria between March and July 2023. As a result, it urged the United States of America to reinstate Nigeria on the list of nations with significant abuses of religious freedom.
In response to the study, Pastor Simon Dolly, Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), North-Central Zone, stated that the persecution of Christians in Nigeria is an unpleasant situation that requires quick action.
Dolly told Newsmen on Tuesday evening that church leaders should reconsider their indiscriminate trips to government officials because they could take focus away from more urgent issues impacting Christians.
