Kinsmen and concerned Enugu State indigenes organized a peaceful protest on Saturday against the horrific murder of Chief Oyibo Chukwu, former chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association for Oji-River branch and senatorial candidate of the Labour Party for Enugu East senatorial zone.
The group, which marched through Enugu State’s capital with placards, demanded justice for the slain and urged security and intelligence services to guarantee that those responsible for the heinous act did not walk free.
Protesters dressed in black and black clothes were led by a kinsman of the dead Labour Party Leader, who belonged from Amuri Ancient Kingdom in Enugu state’s Nkanu West Council area.

Dr Ben Nwoye, the group’s leader and the immediate past Enugu State Chairman of the All Progressives Party, stated, “We are calling for an end to political killings in Enugu State.”
The APC chieftain stated that his village, Amurri, had lost a rare jewel in Chukwu, saying that Chukwu had made significant contributions to the development of the area.
He demanded an investigation into his death and that the culprits be brought to justice, while also requesting that the police stop attributing the killing to IPOB and ESN in order to put the matter to rest.
